I’m working on narrative writing moments with my students at MS424.  Basically, moments can be small, medium, and large (just like fries at McDonalds).  Instead, the small snapshot moment is the Vignette (I recommend reading the tradebook “House On Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros for a series of Vignettes); the medium narrative is the anecdote (like an episode of a TV show); the large moment is deeper in scope and dubbed “Memoir.”  Sure, it comes from the French and means “memory.”  However, it contains the deepest reflection, an unforgettable life-changing angle, and very emotional in scope.
